Classes & Courses

  • Whether you’re looking to deepen your understanding of the music you love or prepare for an upcoming exam, music theory is a vital part of learning to play an instrument.

We offer one to one lessons, as well as ABRSM music theory crash courses.

    ABRSM Music Theory Crash Courses:

The ABRSM Music Theory exams are separate qualifications to the performance grades and are non instrument-specific.

The Exam is comprised of 7 sections focusing on the following topics: Rhythm, Pitch, Keys & Scales, Intervals, Chords, Terms & Signs & Music In Context.

Each Section is worth between 5 - 15 Points, with a total of 75 Possible points. 50 is required for a pass, 60 for Merit, and 65 for a distinction.

To sit the exam you will need access to the internet and a computer with a webcam.

    How it works:

Take our Prep exam or speak to a staff member to assess your level.

Book a time that works for you or take the course during a school holiday.

8 x 1 hour classes (1 hour of homework exercises).

Each class is structured to cover all 7 of the ABRSM exam sections.

Homework exercises can be submitted for online marking before each session.

Sit a mock exam, and when you’re ready we will book you for the real thing.

In collaboration with London Piano School.

  • If you need some extra practice or guidance on the aural section of grade exams or just want to improve your ability to perform then we are hear to help.

These lessons focus on skills including:

Our Teachers

Greg Bush

Bmus(Hons)

I’m a professional trumpet player based in Muswell Hill and have over 10 years of teaching a wide range of students of all ages and abilities. I specialise in trumpet and brass instrument tuition but also teach general musicianship for young beginners, including early years piano and percussion.

My professional performing experience ranges from Orchestral playing to Big Band and Championship Brass Bands.

I’m a graduate of City University London where I studied music and have helped my students with music theory exams including ABRSM Grade 5 theory.

Most importantly I like to keep learning enjoyable and pride myself on adapting my teaching methods to what works best for my students.

Whether you are a complete beginner or already playing, I currently teach at Les Aldrich’s practice room and even have a Ptrumpet (in a snazzy red) which can be used for a new student to try out the instrument if they do not have their own.

Hope to hear from you soon.

I have been performing and teaching for over 10 years. I enjoy teaching both children and adults. I am currently teaching at North Bridge House Prep School, Young Music Makers, and City of London Academy Highbury Grove, and working with a number of private students. I have toured Europe with orchestras and have played in major UK venues, including Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Hall, Cadogan Hall, Bridgewater Hall, or Birmingham Symphony Hall. I have a strong background in classical music both on flute and piano, but I currently specialize in performing Brazilian and Cuban jazz. I will guide you to achieve your goals, whether it be playing a tune you love, passing graded exams, or auditioning for a music course or ensemble. I will treat you with kindness and respect and help you use your individual strengths. I will choose pieces you love and encourage you to be creative and have fun with music!
