‘It is with great pleasure that I recommend Ms Anna Orlik as a highly professional person who passionately treats her vocation. Anna was my daughter’s violin teacher for six months. She is competent, well-organised, optimistic, vigorous, and tactful. In classroom and during exercises she always strives to motivate the pupil to work intensively. When preparing for her classes she refers to a number of additional methodological materials. Anna is competent in modern teaching technologies, and skilfully utilises them during classes. She conducts activities in a very friendly atmosphere. She endeavours to pass her knowledge in a simple manner; she excellently selects program that matches the pupil’s capabilities.
Through Ms Orlik’s lessons the pupil develops interest in and love for music.
Ms Orlik supports the development of pupil’s creative skills, thinking, memory and imagination. As my daughter’s teacher Ms Orlik was always reliable, disciplined and
competent. With my full responsibility I recommend her as an experienced and competent teacher.’

BMus – Violin Performance
My teaching philosophy is based on a positive approach, always keeping in mind that the ideal learning experience should be based on enjoyment, encouraging my students to become self-sufficient from an early stage.
With young children (from 4 years old) I use a combination of both Kodaly and Dalcroze methods, prioritizing musicianship over technique during the first years of learning. The use of these two methods allows quick development of aural skills: sense of pulse, rhythm, inner-ear, singing, memory and the capacity of multitasking.
For more advanced students I combine musicianship with a more traditional approach, working with repertoire of great pedagogues such as Wohlfahrt, Kayser, Mazas, Kreutzer, etc.
I prepare my students for exams, both ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall, understanding these as a little part of the whole learning process and not the only goal.
I’m currently teaching and receiving ongoing training at The DaCapo Music Foundation, working for the Haringey Music Service and running my own violin studio, Muswell Hill Violin Studio, where I offer a complete program of individual plus ensemble lessons, taking place at The Friends Meeting House N10 3NE.
I hold a BMus degree, Violin Performance, from the Eduardo Martinez Torner Conservatoire, Oviedo, Spain. Further periods of study include courses and master classes with violinists and pedagogues J. R. Hevia, Sergei Bezrodny, G. Pogosova, Aitor Hevia, Natalia Lomeiko, Hector Corpus and David Ballesteros. I combine my educational activity with a performing career as a chamber musician, forming the Duo Klier along with violinist Pablo Castro.

I’m available daytime Monday-Wednesday (sometimes Thursday & Friday when I’m not teaching at schools) and I can also do Friday afternoons and Saturdays. Sundays may also be doable on certain weeks. If you contact me I’m sure we’ll be able to arrange a time and location that will suit you.
I’m also particularly interested in teaching ‘classical’ musicians how to play by ear and how to improvise.
If you’d like to free yourself from the constraints of the written page, be more imaginative and develop your ears for working out music (of any genre!) then you should come along to one of the workshops I host on Improvisation at Les Aldrich Music.
A little more information and the schedule is available here: http://lesaldrichmusic.co.uk/events/
Finally a little background on myself:
I’ve been playing music every day since I was around 4 years old (1978!) and I’ve been teaching non-stop for the last 16 years. Much of my teaching over these years has been at a variety of schools in Haringey, Enfield & Barnet (both primary and secondary) as well as a very successful Rock & Pop course at the EBMC (East Barnet Music Centre) for around 12 years. Throughout this period I have also had countless private students.
I currently teach at Finchley Catholic Boys School (for the last 12 years) and privately (mostly at my studio) in the evenings and on Saturdays. When not doing that I am often composing and recording my own music, collaborating with friends, learning new instruments & caring for my son who is on the autistic spectrum – I also have extensive experience of teaching people with special needs.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you learn to play what you want in a way you enjoy.

My name is Georgia – postgraduate student at the Royal Academy of Music, freelance violinist and experienced peripatetic teacher.
My educational history of note began at Chetham’s School of Music (2008-2010), where I completed several music tours, festivals and gala concerts. I am now a music graduate of King’s College, London (First Class Honours), and study with Professor of Violin Sophie Langdon at the Royal Academy of Music (2014-2016). I also currently lead both the University of London Symphony Orchestra and the Melanson String Quartet (Davey-Posnanski Scheme holder).
My teaching experience stems from my full-time post as Musician-in-Residence at Uppingham School (2010-2011), where I taught private lessons, coached chamber music and orchestral rehearsals, supervised practice sessions, and gave remedial music theory classes. I have taught individuals privately ever since, and am in the process of attaining my Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music. I am now the Violin Teaching Intern for the Junior Academy First String Experience at the Royal Academy of Music. As such, I do currently have a valid CRB check courtesy of Islington Council.
I have had experience of teaching from various different angles, having had 6 different teachers throughout my musical life. Therefore, I find it of great importance to teach at a personalised level, with techniques and approaches to suit all manner of violinists. I like to adapt to the person I am teaching so that we are on the same level and can move forward together. I am happy teaching anyone who has a goal in mind and is enthusiastic to achieve it.
My vocation as a freelancing and studying musician has taught me to be a versatile, co-operative team-member, as well as a tactful leader. My only conditions are that the students themselves are willing to learn, can appropriately prepare for each lesson, and that, if planned lessons cannot be attended, cancellation should take place no later than 48 hrs in advance.
I am available to teach Violin from beginners to Grade 8+, plus Music Theory from beginner to Grade 5 standard.
